The Garden Within reimagines a duplex home at Leedon as a place where landscape becomes part of the everyday interior experience.

The lower level draws inspiration from the familiar language of Singapore's black-and-white houses: darker woods, restrained tones and a stronger architectural contrast that establish a grounded backdrop to the family life. Above, the bedrooms transition into a lighter and quieter palette inspired by the serenity of Aman Kyoto, creating a deliberate shift in atmosphere between the communal and private spaces.

In the garden, the ground is crafted as a habitat for the flora and fauna. Red-barked trees, lime-green foliage and layers of tropical planting frame a deep green pond, where large Japanese koi move beneath the canopy. A small cascade introduces the constant sound of water, while misting and chilled-water systems were explored to subtly moderate the garden's microclimate. On calmer days, one can spot bulbuls hopping from tree branches to the rock of the cascade, delightfully enjoying the garden ground, as it deserves.

Together, the interior and landscape form a singular habitat. One which was shaped around shade, water, vegetation and moments of retreat within the city.
